4/14/2021 0 Comments Car Dealer FraudIn my experience, most people do not enjoy going to a car dealer and buy a new or used vehicle. The typical car dealer office is filled with people who have every right to be lecturing you on why you should buy their cars. Even if they are trying to be helpful, it is hard to make people feel good about making a purchase. It is my personal opinion that you should avoid any car dealer or service office that tries to be helpful to you. If the person at the counter truly believes in his product or service, he will try to help you. However, the majority of the people that come to a car dealer or service office are there for one reason -to get a commission. These people are not looking to find a vehicle to buy. They are there to get the greatest amount of money possible. At the end of the day, what this means is that you should not pay any money to have your car or truck serviced by a car dealer or by the dealership service department. If the dealer has been nice to you in the past, then ask yourself "Do I need to be told that I don't need to buy this vehicle anymore?" If the answer is no, then you should not be offered any incentives or special pricing in the future. If the answer is yes, then go ahead and buy your next vehicle from a dealership or a dealer service location that offers a warranty on their work. This is the best way to make sure that you are getting the best service and vehicle available at that particular establishment. In addition, if you encounter a car dealer or service office that is trying to sell you something that doesn't really exist, like a Mickey Thompson vehicle, don't just walk out the door with it. Don't sign anything on paper until you have checked it over with a mechanic and talked to an expert in the field. You never know when a fraudulent item is going to hit the market that is pretending to be a good deal. It's important to protect yourself by being aware of any fraudulent cars and trucks out there and making sure that you don't just hand over your hard earned money to anyone that approaches you about getting a new vehicle. Always be sure to do your research into the vehicle that you are thinking about purchasing before you do anything else. While it is a smart idea to talk to more than one car dealer location, you should not give information to someone over the phone. This is because there have been many cases over the years where car dealers have found themselves in hot water over phone calls that were made to inform the person that they had made an incorrect decision regarding a vehicle. When you give someone your phone number over the phone or meet them in person, you have no way of tracing the information that you are providing to them. Also, always remember that if you ever sign a contract for a vehicle, that it is legally yours. Don't let a car dealer pressure you into buying a vehicle or make you feel as though you have no other options unless you purchase their vehicle. If you do your research, you will find many other dealers around you that can give you great deals and great cars to drive. So, don't let a car dealer intimidate you, but rather use that knowledge to protect yourself. Here is an alternative post for more info on the topic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Used_car.
